Balloon Affair

The culmination of the summer season is the Balloon A-Fair.

This community tradition has been going strong for 38 years and begins with a parade through the city.

The rains didn't dampen spirits for the 2016 Independence parade participants and banner bearers. In 2015 the clouds were kind enough to hold off for the parade.

Vendors line the streets with their merchandise, exhibits and goodies during the day.

In the evening festivities move to Sun Beau Valley Farm where additional vendors display their wares and over 20 hot air balloons dot the sky.

Independence has a strong tradition of participating in community events – our floats are legendary! Both staff and the individuals we serve enjoy involvement with our community.
