Northeast Ohio Medical University Pharmacy Doctorate Hosting

Twice per year Independence, Inc. hosts third year pharmacy students from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED).  Spending 8 weeks with the agency, students review charts, correlate laboratory findings, meet clients & learn about various conditions that cause disability. 

Combined with pathophysiology, students learn about the pharmaceutical care of individuals from a unique perspective; how dosing, indications and usage of medications may be very different from the non-developmentally disabled population.   Learning to work with disciplines other than pharmacists provides a comprehensive approach to patient care that they will carry with them into professional practice reinforcing the concept of inter-professional collaboration and its positive effect on patient outcomes.
